Tom Hanks may have had his fair share of troubles on the water whilst portraying ‘Captain Phillips’ and lone surviver of a plane crash and best friend to ‘Wiiilson!’ as Chuck a ‘Castaway,’ but he and his wife Rita Wilson enjoyed a much more peaceful and relaxing vacation on board 246-foot sailing yacht Phocea along the Turkish coastline.
Big sailing fans, the couple’s yacht was the largest sailing yacht in the world at the time she was built in 1976, and held this title until 2004! Benefitting from a $17 million investment into refitting her, she still looks great.
Phocea can can accommodate up to 12 guests and features a gym on board. She definitely rivals any 5-star hotel on land – just check out her dining room!
The yacht costs over $200,000 to rent…per week! Which sound a lot to most of us, but is not much of a stretch to Tom, whose net worth was estimated at a cool $350 million (in 2014).
Tom and Rita were spotted stopping by the small island of Antiparo in Greece before they travelled to Turkey to continue their 5-star vacation. The couple married in 1988 and have two sons together, Chet and Truman Theodore.
Life looks pretty rosy for the Hanks family!
